Responsibilities

The Hyperbaric Technician is responsible for implementing technical procedures and care on all patients safely and effectively as directed by the Program Director for patients ranging in age from 18 years to geriatric experiencing medically complex conditions, general medical-surgical conditions, with rehabilitation and/or wound care needs.

 

The Hyperbaric Technician duties include:

 

  • Act as an outside attendant and control operator during clinical treatment using mono hyperbaric chambers
  • Demonstrates professional responsibility and accountability for own practice and support of departments philosophy.
  • Conducts pretreatment and post treatment evaluation of patients to ensure adequate preparation for treatment to include patient screening, evaluation of vital signs and blood glucose monitoring.

  • Ensures patient safety and fire safety before and during hyperbaric treatments by screening for prohibited items and appropriate attire in accordance with standard policies and procedures.
  • Administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the Program Director
  • Performs wound cleansing and dressing changes as needed.

 

 

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School dipolma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of electronic medical records and scheduling programs

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Current professional nursing license for state of employment.
  • BLS certification required
  • ACLS certification preferred
  • CHT Hyperbaric Technology Certification
